Anyway, I moved from one metro suburb (Long Island, NY) to another. I don't think it makes much difference concerning how cultured you are or how much you identify with the city itself. It's not where you are, it's who you're with.

The reason for this is that all mail goes through New Orleans first as a local distribution center before going to outlining parishes, towns, cities and neighborhoods.

This was a major problem after Katrina because all local mail was re-routed through Baton Rough and mail was running months late in the area.

Even living in Destrehan my mail is routed through New Orleans unless I put it in the local area mail box.

It's hard to describe who or what a New Orleanian is, but I know one when I meet one.

I daydream about moving down there, but I'd have to live down there for quite awhile before I'd call myself one.

Nola Wannabe: I found the list at a Facebook page and I believe it's probably been around for some time. I'm certainly not creative enough to write it! I just took out some of the less interesting ones to make it shorter, but I'll try and figure out which ones I took out and post a few more.

* You laugh every time someone calls you a cajun and you tell them I'm not cajun, I'm a d@go.
