That's incorrect. The 48th precinct that contains Belmont, along with other neighborhoods, did have over 100 murders but a large number of them came from the Happy Land incident.

This is a bunch of lies.

As of this date the overall crime rate in NYC for 2010 is Down 1.35% from 2009 which was the lowest crime rate in over 40 years.

The crime rate in The Bronx is DOWN 0.65% from the same time last year.Again, lowest crime rates in 40 years.

Murders in NYC are up 11% from the same time last year( 181 v 163)
Murders in The Bronx are up 7.7% from last year( 42 v 39).The Bronx precinct with the biggest increase in murders so far this year is the 50th where there have been 3 murders this year v 1 in the same time period last year.

There is no Bronx precinct with an increase anywhere near 800%.The 50th precinct increase is 200%,from 1 to 3.The 48th precinct has had a decrease of 100% from 2 to 0.
NYPD - Office of the Chief of Department

Please post a link to support your claims,RussianIvanov or everyone should just assume you made them up( are lying).

It is juvenile and/or irresponsible to just make up numbers like this.

The rest of the borough is pretty steady compared to last year.

And my bad about the 800% increase. I can't find it, it might have been in another borough. I think it might have been in Manhattan, so I will check quick because I am curious now if I may be recalling information wrong or something.
More incorrect information. So far there have been 9 murders this year in the 47th precinct v 4 at the same time last year.An increase of 125%.Why did you just throw out 300%.Do people generally just accept your lies and misinformation?

My bad, I was looking at the information as 2010 data being SO FAR this year, and 2009 data as TOTALS for last year. Murders are up significantly either way. But I am not lying because it was a simple mistake looking at the information. Manhattan South is up 800% though.

Well, murders are up but I wouldn't call it significant. They are only up 7% in The Bronx which is what this thread is about.7% is not really significant, especially when even with that 7% increase so far this year it is still down from 2008 and could well do the same by the end of this year.
You also claimed that "crime is rising in the city dramatically this year"
Where did that come from?
You should really try to be more accurate and responsible in posting numbers and comments like these because some people( like the OP) come to this forum looking for help and accurate information.

And everyone is ghetto. You know in the hood when you're in the Bronx. People hanging out, drug dealing, smoking weed, teenagers robbing, gangbanging....its all here. I live it.

The only difference is that dudes aren't killing themselves cause of crack. But that doesn't mean you can have a false sense of security.

I would add Pelham Parkway,Morris Park,Pelham Gardens,Van Cortlandt Village,Pelham Bay and City Island to your "good" list.Otherwise, the list is OK if you have to put things into 3 different categories.

But even most of the "bad " areas of The Bronx have nothing on Miami, which is what the Op was concerned with.
