Default Car Insurance Manhattan

I need tips on finding insurance for Manhattan. I tried the "BIg Four" and they gave me quotes for more than my car note. Are there "smaller" companies I should research, or should I suck it up.

You probably won't find cheap insurance no matter what company you choose. NYC traffic is terrible, I haven't seen that many damaged cars in any other city. Driving to Manhattan, practically every day I see some accidents. Traffic is very congested everywhere. Bad roads and bad weather not helping either. Tight parking is also contributing to high rate of damages. Another reason is that the regulations in NYC contribute to insurance fraud, like that no-fault provision, insurance companies obviously shift that burden to insureds. In my observation average insurance in NYC is running 3-4 times higher than in CA. If you have an old car get only liability insurance.

Check out those insurance companies in Chinatown.
I live in Brooklyn, i got quote from Geico for full coverage for $2500, and i got quote from those 'smaller' companies for about $1900 which is pretty cheap.
