What is there for a family to do in NYC today and tomorrow? (Victor: shop)

I know people probably ask something like this all the time, but I have relatives in town this week and we wanted to go into the city tonight and tomorrow so I wanted to know what we can do. It will be me (27 yrs old), my girlfriend(24), our kids(6 and 2), my mother, and my aunt. We planned to go to the toy's r us store in times square and maybe the empire state building. We were looking for more to do over there. What else can we do?

The Disney and Hershey stores near Times Sq and FAO Schwartz on Fifth. Since you'll be there, consider Top of the Rock instead of the Empire State Building (possibly long lines + the heat)

You could go to Wollman Rink for the Victorian Amusements in Central Park.

Victorian Gardens - Wollman Rink From there, you could explore other areas of Central Park.

You could also take the free Staten Island Ferry ride, and get a perspective of the city from the harbor. You can also find things to do around Battery Park most days.

Yes, the Bronx Zoo is the best zoo in the area. It is extremely large and has a large park area besides the animal exhibits.

The Bronx Zoo is well worth the trip, I agree. It's also pretty convenient to travel to it, via bus, car, train.
