ESPN just announced that Amare Stoudemire has agreed to a $100 million dollar deal over five years with the Knicks, looks like the start of a revival for the long dead franchise. Anyone think this will bring the Knicks back into the NYC spotlight?

It will definitely bring the team back to the spotlight, and the playoffs, but this signing isn't Finals material until and second star and scorer is added to this team.

Moreover, this signing or any addition will mean absolutely nothing if Mike D'Antoni doesn't instill defense into his team.

I agree with lady jay. Amare is a good player but not sure if he is that great defensively (plus D'Antoni doesn't teach defense). And in the playoffs, Amare averaged only like 6 or 7 rebounds, not enough for a power forward. He definitely is talented though, hopefully they can get someone to complement him. I don't see Wade or Lebron coming though...

Ohh no. Amare is a two-time All-NBA type player. Not a fair comparison. God people in NYC are so cynical...

btw, Allan was a pretty good player and actually had some great moments with the Knicks...

I'm not disputing he had great moments with the Knicks. I'm making the injury comparison. After signing the max contract, how many games did Houston actually play? Stoudemire already has a bad knee...

knicks have been close to 8th place or at 8 th place for playoffs before with their wack team.

if everything goes well with stoudamire maybe next year they can keep their 8th place position and make it to the playoffs.

but knicks arent fiished yet because their are so many top players with rumors of going to the knicks , i think knicks will have at least 2 nice all star players for next year and if that goes well playoffs baby.

i dream everynight during nba season of the knicks blowing out the laker for the title.

if everything goes more then expected my dream might come true next year lol.

Allen Houston 2.0 is the correct assessment.
