Lynbrook, East Rockaway, Rockville Center are nice and close to Woodmere.
Maybe Hewlett too if you can find a good price on an apt.
Try Craigslist first to avoid paying a brokers fee.

thanks...

i saw some great apartments listed on nymag.com also.

what about far rockaway?? from what i can see, i think it would be cheaper for me to live in queens than nassau county. i would not mind astoria, but it seems i will struggle with traffic.

what about flushings??

thanks again.

Why do you want to be in Queens?
I lived in East Rockaway (which is next to Lynbrook) for 10 years.
I liked it better Queens.
You could probably find a better and cheaper apt. in Nassau.
Far Rockaway = avoid
Flushing = is mostly asian, noisy and kind of bland.

Have you ever visited Queens or Long Island and have seen the area?
What areas of Queens were cheaper that you were looking at?
