Why is it so hard to find a gallon of Milk in NYC? I've been to 3 CVS', 2 Rite Aids and 1 Walgreens near my apartment (Hell's Kitchen) and work (Battery Park) and none of them sell a gallon of whole milk.

Because in that area people dont buy it. You need to go to a supermarket.

Why don't you try a grocery store instead of a drug store.

The CVS's Rite Aids and Wagreens are all former drug stores turned into 'pseudo' convenience stores. They cater more to the business crowd than to folks likely to buy a gallon of milk. Besides, you are looking in areas where the health obsessed live--the only milk they get is from soy or goat, and is found in their Starbucks latte.
