Just wondering what you think of New Yorkers in general, when compared to the rest of the population. Forbes has rated New York City as one of the most miserable cities in the U.S.:

yeah, Forbes has a funny system of rating and NY is never really rated favorably by them. I believe Forbes rates things from the standpoint of Suburban values and ignores the benefits of living in an Urban environment. But the cost of living is enough to crush a few souls though.
wow i dont beleive that site and i bet the main reasons are high rent , and the high expense of things.
but lol whenever i go to another city i usually feel sad for the people who live their. thats how much i love nyc.
You can't trust any site. Mens.com rated nyc one of the best cities in the world and I'm like how? Now forbes megazine rated nyc misreable, I'm like how? In truth nyc is really a mixed bag of potatoes that's how I see it. Nyc is really a give or take city and even myself I would love to trade places with a transplant any day.
Bad winters, humid summers, riding subways with bums, holigans and big people, high rents, tight living spaces, high car insurance, rodent issues....yeah that can make a person miserable when u really look at it.

Lol I guess someone doesn't like NYC :P
Its not for everyone but usually a person who is a NY doesn't reflect this attitude or else they wouldn't be living in NYC and if they are, then they are stupid for doing so when there are plenty of suburban places around the city they can live within 30 min commute into NYC.
NYC is a tough, competitive place. Some people would be happier elsewhere but if this is all they've ever known, they tend to stay here (happy or not) and "deal with it." I prefer to leave Manhattan behind me at the end of the day, and I don't like dense communities with high rise apartments, so I live in a neighborhood that has more of a "townish" feeling. The City is close enough when I want it but I need a more peaceful environment once I get home.
I didnt look at this list, but I know Cleveland has been number one, thats where I am from. I don't think its miserable. And honestly I think those people use a very black and white standard for these things. They forget all the fun things the city has to offer. Like in Cleveland, yeah the economy sucks and so does the weather but there is a very low cost of living. And there is no better place to be a sports fan!

The key word in the whole posting was "Forbes." As soon as you see it, you know you can write off whatever it is they have to say. I often suspect that Forbes' employees don't have a lot to do; they sit around thinking up their ridiculous polls and surveys.
In a word--a nice, New York word--fuhgeddaboudit!
P.S. "HarlemNewbie" suggests that you live here. If so, why would you have to ask about New Yorkers?
