Just saw mention on the Today Show that tonight's NBC Nightly News at 6:30 pm will have a segment on the NYC bedbug epidemic. I don't expect any new info, but it's good to keep it in the public eye.

Due to shame, most keep hush hush about it, fearful of being banned from work or evicted from an apt.

A gal got into my taxi in Boston last month freaked out after finding bedbugs in her apt., but shuttling across town to a friend's apt.

That's how they're spread: in cabs, visiting friends. She believed all she needed to do was buy some bedbug spray. If it were only so easy and inexpensive.

Bedbugs are a nightmare to get rid of. My company spent over a million dollars cleaning up a whole department because some guy brought it from home. His daughter had brought it from college. The problem with bedbugs is they can stay dormant for over a month without feeding. In the infected department, the cloth cubicle dividers we had were a highway system for the bugs to spread. Over a year later we still have a beagle come in once a month to sniff any bed bugs out that may be lingering. (A specially trained beagle for those that dont know can sniff out bed bugs).

Correction they can stay dormant for 9 months to a year.
