hi, we are coming to new york again and wanna stay some days in a vacation rental. we found some nice looking apartements around 125th, 5 Ave, but feel a bit unsafe. and we also like to go out late at night, so

is this a safe area to stay?

thanx a lot!

I have a friend that lives right there in one of the apartment buildings on 125th, right above Mo'Bays, I believe, and she has never complained. She also had some roommates over the years from out of town and I have not heard of any complaints that they made. Since it is a commercial area I don't think too much actually happens there during the day and at night, it appears to be fairly quiet since the stores are closed. The train station (2/3) is right down the block on Lenox Avenue and it should be an easy taxi commute from most parts of the city.

Just for disclosure, I do think that 125th around Lexington Ave is rougher and I have heard of some issues in that area over the years. Best of luck.

I'm a southerner who just moved to Harlem. If you are afraid of us black folks then find a place to stay in midtown. Otherwise you should be fine.
