wow hi Jkid, long time no see..I got a waiting list letter from Related about this development. I'm still trying to get an apartment, we've had absolutely no luck with these low income interviews, we went to 4 lottery interviews in 2010. If it was not one thing it was the other that screwed us over. I went to a NYCHA interview in DEC 2010 and we're STILL waiting on word from them.
On a brighter note, we just had yet another interview just yesterday for 25 Washington street in DUMBO Brooklyn and we PASSED the interview! I was like WOW, finally!!! the only thing is that there are only 4 2-bedroom apartments for that project, its an 80/20 by the way. My log # is in the upper 900's, so not too high. We are crossing our fingers on this one, we seriously need an apartment. It's 4 of us, Me, wife and 2 young children 8 and 3yrs old. Much luck to you Jkid on getting that 1 bed , but remember, embrace what you have, because at Least you have something!
PS: can anyone tell me what the exact procedure is on the HOME VISIT, like what exactly do they say, do ..ask?? thanks!

Sorry, boxes everywhere so no camera at this time. The apartments are similar to the photos on MiMa's website except: kitchen - no back splash, white Whirlpool appliances, and no garbage disposal; bathroom looks the same; no closet doors covering the washer/dryer; and the carpeting in the bedroom and living room is a good quality beige. They have installed white mini blinds which will save money on window treatments. High quality throughout.

Hey !!! LOL ! Definitely been a long time..good to know everything is good with you. Great to hear that something finally may come through for you and yours. Oh yea..i've always been grateful and humble. But I have to think about long term as well..and due to the small size of the unit..it just isn't feasible. So i'm still on my pursuit, mainly for more comfort. Because unfortunately its rather UNcomfortable for me. But i'm doing what I can to make it work

we're not out of the woods just yet though, I'm not popping any champagne bottles until I have keys and lease in my hands lol
We just got thru one of the toughest parts which is STEP 1: the initial interview stage . After this there still more process to go thru as of course you may know ( send papers to city for approval, home visit and they told me a final certification interview), they told me it could take anywhere from 1-2 months which of course i dont mind waiting..as long as i get the apartment! , but like I said there's only 4 apartments available for my income bracket which is 2 bedroom with a max of $39,600 for 4 people. With all assets( bank statements and 401k interest earned) and income ( paystubs) they came up with a grand total of $39,485! so VERY close lol, like I said we are truly praying everything goes smoothly from here and we make it to the finish line.

well my home visit was yesterday, and the guy that conducted the home visit was rather brief. He basically came in and sat down in the dining room table and asked me a couple of questions and made some notes. At the end he was just speaking to himself and writing notes (he said murmering things like clean, neat, and nicely decorated). It took about 10 minutes. He asked general questions about living where i live now, and about my hobbies and wether or not i play an instrument.
So my question is, generally how long until they give you a notice after you have had the home visit?
my log is in the 1xxx by the way, so just curious as to what I should expect next. I guess I should just expect the unexpected.

I had my home visit March 3rd. Around the first week of April they asked for additional bank statements - my initial interview was in December so they wanted their information current. Then they called in late April to set an appointment to view apartments - so a total of about seven weeks after the home visit. Things may move a bit more quickly now since the building is almost complete. I know the wait is excruciating, but if you're lucky enough to get in, it's well worth the wait. Good luck to you.

hey guys, I'm just gonna copy and paste from the riverplace II thread, so hopefully you guys could answer my questions .
I've been told as well that if you are "boarding" in someones apartment, they don't go any further than the living room ( which is where we'll say we stay). We'll have an air mattress there, some clothing and stuff. We actually do rent a small Manhattan mini storage, so we could always say all our stuff is in there.
Well, so far everything is going great. We went to the interview Monday May 9th, and already Friday May 13th, they faxed the employment verification to my wife's job for them to fill out which they promptly returned. My employment is checked instantly thru "theworknumber.com". The landlord inquiry is going to be sent directly to my aunt so she could fill out instead of the actual landlord of the building. The gentleman was kind enough say he'd rather send it to my aunt since we are boarding in her apartment rather than bring any problems to her by sending it directly to the landlord. They also called me from creditview asking about how much I have in my checkings and saving as of today and how long I had the accounts.
Which actually brings me to another question that hopefully you guys could answer. Do they check your bank account history further than the 6 months than that of the statements you bring in? Or are they simply verifying that the 6 months statements you bring coincide with the banks records? I'm just worried that even AFTER we were qualified at the interview, that they would come up with some way to add more to our income which would blow us out of the water. We barely made the $39,600 maximum. We totaled $39,485 with all assets and income!
Thanks and sorry for the long post lol

I want to understand what you mean..but what I'm understanding is that they will check your last 6 months history, which they already saw on the bank statements we already brought to the interview...
