I'm about to start my graduate studies in College Queens, and I'm looking to rent a cheap studio somewhere that's not too far away from college, but that is still somewhere nice and interesting for a 25 year old. I'd be only studying 2-3 days a week, so it won't be a problem to live somewhere with 15-20 minutes transportation to the college. Does anyone have any suggestions on diverse neighbourhoods with young people and a decent nightlife? Thank you!

Astoria.
Diverse
Close to midtown
Cheap for NYC
Relatively safe

The OP never mentioned anything about midtown, Astoria is highly overrated, just a matter of time before all of the hype dies down. I would suggest Jackson Heights which is much closer to Queens College then Astoria is.
