Wink Good, Affordable Housing in Brooklyn?

I'm wanting to relocate to to NYC from the Raleigh, NC area. I'm trying to find the best, safest, and most affordable place to live. I know I'll more than likely end up in Brooklyn; however, I'd like some advice on what neighborhoods are the best. I hear Sunset Park, Park Slope, and Williamsburg are nice. I imagine myself near restaurants, stores, shopping, etc.

I'm needing to stay under $1500 a month, would prefer at least a 1.5 bedroom, and I have 1 cat & 1 dog, and a husband . Living near the subway is very important.

Your help is appreciated! Thanks!

How about Southern Brooklyn? It's relatively inexpensive compared to the other parts of Brooklyn and there's still stores, and restaurants. I would personally recommend Bensonhurst but I also hear Bay Ridge is nice as well. Good luck.

@JKid84NYC In a perfect world, I'd live in Manhattan, but my pocketbook says no. So, I've heard and seen where Brooklyn can be a lot more economical.

@pureistheword & @homenj I will certainly check out Bay Ridge & Bensonhurst, thank you!

My dream of moving to NYC may or may not happen, depending on whether or not I can land a job opportunity. We shall see! Thanks!
