So whats the big deal?
Manhattan skyline is ever changing. Did people ***** about the Chrysler building being built so close to Empire.....

Proposed skyscraper is scheduled to be shorter than Empire State Building. I got no problem with that.

The ONLY place where the Empire State Building will probably be "blocked" is from some obscure vantage point in New Jersey. Who cares? Empire State Building will still dominante from nearly every single angle in the NYC area.

This building is a great addition to NYC.

I think the bigger issue is that the Hotel Pennsylvania will be torn down. Its a shame too, it maybe its not the best on the inside but It could definitely be refurbed.

Finally something big to give the Empire State building some company in that area of the skyline. I sure hope they built more tall towers in NYC too.

I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't so ugly. The last decent towers IMHO were Citispire, and World Wide plaza.

I agree with the above, the drawings of that building are ugly. I don't see the ugly thing as a threat to ESB. I guess Architects these days don't have any taste.
