haha. Yes, your people. You sound like me and my best friend, we refer to our nationality as our people/our crew/gang. We refer to our ethnic neighborhoods as our territories/hoods. Our ethnic dishes as our food. And even trains that pass through our territories as our trains and our stops. haha.
Angies pizzeria located on 138th street and Morris avenue in the Bronx. But for Authentic Italian cuisine I suggest Dominiks on Arthur Avenue. Another good spot is Venice Italian pizzeria on 149th between trinity and Union avenue in the Bronx, some good Italian pizza and pasta. Villa Barone Ristorante under Pelham Bay park station and Bruckner Boulevard. There is also a very tasty Italian bakery on Lydig Avenue in the Bronx, some good conolies come out of that place. Again this is all in the Bronx, I really cant speak for other Italian eateries city wide.

I'm surprised No one has mentioned any places in Brooklyn with the exception of Park Slope. Park Slope is not an Italian "hood." I was waiting for places in Bensonhurst, Carroll Gardens, Bay Ridge and so on. The best Italian place I remember in the city was Mama Leonie's when I was a kid however I think it's out of business. I live in the land of "goombas" so Italian restaurants are the last choice when I dine in the city.
