Since you have everything paid for (rent, car/car expenses), a good majority of your income will be disposable. You shouldn't have any problem.

Is there a cap to how much your employer will pay? You should check because living in NYC is very very expensive. If they truly pay for everything then you are lucky and the extra money is like spending money! Groceries, dining out, and having fun!

$1,800 a month of disposable income is a lot more then what most people have left over after paying all of their bills. You will be in good shape, just don't eat at expensive restaurants and avoid wasting money on buying expensive clothes, accessories, etc.

BINGO!!! I agree. Keep it simple, you'll be fine. If they pick up the tab on everything else, you can live well. Just don't overdo it. Good Luck!!

That's more disposable income than many Americans have, and NYC would be no exception since rents are so high. It's not uncommon for an average New Yorker to fritter away half their take home pay on rent and utilities. Then they still have to feed, clothe and entertain themselves somehow.

Even if that's $1800 before taxes, you'll still be fine. Plenty of fun money.

You would really have disposable money if you moved to Texas. Things much cheaper here than in NYC.
