I have to start my job in NY from august, but the problem is I do not know right now that after initial training where I would be placed. MY company has office in NYC and Brooklyn. I have information about commuting to NYC offices via path rail service from Journal square or Hoboken. Bu I have no idea how can I commute from these places (where I plan to rent an apartment) to Brooklyn via train/bus. I do not have a car and do not want to buy one very soon.
I would be grateful if somebody could also advise me on a location in NJ from where both general utilities (Walmart, etc) as well a train/bus station is nearby.
And knowing that you'll be working in either Brooklyn or Manhattan, WHY do you want to live in NJ?????
LOL thinking the EXACT same thing..I mean its different if you dont have a choice (job transfer, family settled in one area)..but if you do have choice...its different story. A friend of mine commutes from Passaic county, NJ to Trubull, CT 70 miles one way against traffic, they bought there house while she was still a the same job..and I always have wondered..why, when you know you have to cross over two states.
if you work in the city, you won't have a problem. the PATH will take you either to world trade or 34th st. from world trade you can get the A, C, or E trains. from 34th st. you can get just about any west side or letter train. your only issue will be if you work on the east side because it will require a transfer to 4/5/6. if you work in brooklyn, it will depend on what neighborhood you work in. if you're close to the water (i.e. brooklyn heights all the way down to bay ridge), then you'll probably want to take the PATH to world trade, walk down to the rector st. (courtland is closed indefinitely), and take the r-train. if you're working in east brooklyn (bed-stuy and east), then you probably want to take the PATH to 34th st., get out, and walk to the 1/2/3 or F/B/Q, depending on route drops you closest. if you're working in north brooklyn (williamsburg), then you will need to get on the L-train. i forget if the PATH has a 14th st. stop. but, if it does, then that should hook you up with the L-train. however, if you are in north/east brooklyn (east new york/canarsie), then you should take the PATH to world trade and then take the C-train
