I know about the parade and all the restaurant thanksgiving buffets/dinners. But I'm looking to actually IGNORE thanksgiving and do something else altogether.
I was hoping to see a (off)Broadway show, go to a comedy club, something along those lines. But it all seems to be closed that day.
Thanksgiving is one of the very few days of the year where the entire city shuts down, except for (because of?) the parade. A movie is probably the best you can do, but that's true of any American city on Thanksgiving.
Actually we went to a restaurant on Thanksgiving a few years ago down in Chelsea. It was soooooo depressing like there wasn't a soul on Earth around. We went to Tello's on 19th or 20th, food sucked (price fixed) and we left there feeling depressed.
Good (good | restaurant) has an excellent prix fixe, if you're looking for a restaurant.
