I am curious about what is going on with the mortgage freeze. I don't quite understand. I get that the paperwork was not reviewed and people just "robo-signed" documents.

My questions are:

What qualifications did the people have that just signed these documents away? My friend said you only need a High School Diploma to work in the foreclosure department, is that true?

What steps did they skip? From what I understand what ever the process was it was only at the end of the process that they made a mistake where they were supposed to give a final review and they just assumed paperwork was in order.

Will people be fired and/or over this?

Why didn't the banks just hire someone to help with this process and review these documents correctly?

I read that the review of the documents will be complete in a few weeks, is that even possible with over 50,000 documents to review?

Thanks, I talked to a few friends but the response I got was "i don't know" and I didn't know where else to post the question.
