Default Woodside Houses(NYCHA)

Can anyone tell me how Woodside Houses is in terms of safety? My nephew is going there to William C Bryant High School
(right across the street from Woodside Houses) next year and is worried about walking home in the afternoon. Is it unsafe at all?

Agreed with SeventhFloor, there was a major drug bust over there a couple of years ago which involved the Crips. Even though the Woodside Houses are one of the smallest projects around you still have to be aware of your surroundings.

Safe bet that there is a police presence at Bryant H.S after school lets out in the afternoon.

There's A BUNCH of kids leaving the school around the same time, so he should be fairly safe.

I lived close to the school and went there my senior year - it can be a little crazy but nothing where he should be wondering if he is going to get killed or anything like that. Kids are kids they fight and bully and all that stuff and the school is not immune to it, but I wouldn't say that thoses issues came from the kids in the projects - they were fine.

i live a few neighborhoods away. My younger brother graduated from Bryant 2 years ago. He would take the Q66 Bus home every day. Never got into any trouble. Never had any complaints with him saying it was dangerous at all. It's a decent neighborhood. No one really bothers at the Woodside projects. Especially around that time.
