Default Help: Commuting from Bayside, Queens to Manhattan wise? Is Bayside safe?

I am a student trying to get away from Jamaica Estates, because there has been an on going bug problem. None of the rooms I have viewed so far seem as appealing as the one I have seen in Bayside.

Problem is I commute to Manhattan often, how convenient is it from Bayside? Any Ideas? Also is the area around Northern Boulevard and 212 street Safe, can I walk around at night or early morning hours?

Please reply asap

Thanks

Bayside is safe. As for commuting to city, it depends on how you want to get there...LIRR or express bus. You can look those up yourself online.

Northern & 212 st, you are right there around the train station, it's a 20 minute-ride to Penn station, LIRR is more expensive than subway/bus though
