Not sure, but I’m thinking of accepting a new job in [NY, USA]. The experience would be terrific, but I heard that Cost of Living is quite high now. Any thoughts?

From my experience living in [USA] for the last five years, prices are on the rise especially for food and housing. There’s a helpful tool that you can use ( HuMuch.com- find, share, and compare prices around the world ) to decide for your particular situation. You can compare prices of similar items around the world. Hope that helps!

Not true. Check out Sweeden, Switzerland, and other European/Nordic countries....upwards of 60% tax rates. Much worse than NYC!

This is just dumb comment and very misinformed. Many countries in Europe and even our neighbor Canada have higher taxes than us in US.

Scariest cost of living in US is the money needed to cover the unexpected medical emergencies or long term illness/disease...even if you have insurance.

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on what side of the fence you are on - this statement is incorrect. OP can find details on IRS.gov and can run his own numbers.
