Hello

I've got offered a job in Midtown Manhattan and will be moving there from Sweden. I do have VISA and all of that.

Now I'm looking for a flat for rent. I do want about 80+ square meters, with two bedrooms and one or two bathrooms. I want it to be fresh looking with modern kitchen and stainless steel appliances + modern bathrooms.

I want to live in Midtown Manhattan, near Time Square area. I do like living there, or close to the area.

My budget is 600$ to 1.000$. I pay now about 600$ rent in Sweden for 2 bedroom flat in southern Sweden.

Thank you so much for helping me out
I am looking forward to move to New York City as early as next summer!
I am tired of the cold, dark winters in Sweden

You won't find a closet with two shelves for that price.

What do you mean? I will be making only 2.000$ per month.
I do not want to spend a lot on rent, because I will have to pay for food, enterteiment, transportation, electricity etc.

I pay $2400 a month for a STUDIO. That budget is very unrealistic.

Good Luck

Unless you move to New Jersey & take bus or train to the city. You could live in an apartment in Hackensack or other nearby areas for that price, but not a luxury apartment as you want. This is not Sweden, sorry.

that's way too low. you'll need AT LEAST 3x that much. and that's if you get roommates. Without roommates, you're looking at 4-5x that much.

EDIT: I just noticed you are from Sweden (even though you plainly mentioned it). I don't know what the situation in Sweden is, but people here can actually get paid less than what they need in order to live near work.

You will be making 24K/year. If you want money for food and clothing, you CAN'T afford to live in Manhattan. I'm not kidding. Look into NJ or way out in Queens or the Bronx.

Also you must make 40x the rent to qualify for an apartment (40 x $1,000=$40,000)

Why are you leaving Sweden to make so little here?

I don't think this was a serious post. I truly thought everybody would be on the floor with laughter over the numbers.
