Default Transportation to BWI Airport from NYC--help!

Hi folks,
My parents are in NYC on 45th street at the Milford Hotel there and they need ideas on how to get to the Baltimore Airport (BWI) for their flight home tomorrow.

What is a reasonably priced option for them? Greyhound?

Thanks for any advice!

Default Hi

option 1: They can take the greyhound to baltimore from port authority on 42ndst. Greyhound has 2 stops in baltimore- travel plaza and downtown baltimore. downtown baltiomore is the better option. from here they can get a taxi to BWI.
the greyhound would cost 35-40 dollars. the cab ride would be another 40.

option 2 : take the amtrak from 34th st penn station in Manhattan. it goes directly to the bwi. It costs 86-130 dollars depending on which time you take the train.(its cheaper before 8 in the morning).

Personally i prefer amtrak because its less of a hassle and no transfers.... more so when you have luggage.

this is great advice all around. i would also take amtrak. the cost difference is negligable; the travel experience will be profound.

A low-cost commuter bus called Megabus to Washington DC and he should take the Washington Metro from the Metro Center station via the Blue line to the station with the same name as the airport. According to the maps I'm going to provide, the station is on the same block as the bus terminal. All in all, Megabus should be less than $20 and the Metro less than $3. Here are the maps:

megabus.com - Maps for New York and Washington. It tells you where to catch the bus and where it'll drop him off. You can check fares and schedules there.

Metro - Metrorail System Map That's the Washington Metro subway map. Just trace the Blue line where the Orange and Red lines meet and you'll find the Metro Center station icon. Just trace the blue line back and you'll find the airport. All you need to know about the Metro is in that link, including fares and schedules.

The least expensive will be to take the Megabus from Penn Station to Metro Center in Washington, DC. Then, he will need to take the Washington Metro (subway) from Metro Center on the Blue Line to Reagan National. The trains are labeled by their last stop in Washington, so he wants to take the Blue Line train towards Franconia from Metro Center.

The bus is around $20-$25, I believe, and the Metro is around $2, depending upon time of day. That's the least expensive option, and with planning, the Megabus can be even less expensive, I am told. It seems to be a popular route, as I always see people waiting for the Megabus in Washington, and they look like decent, normal travelers, not a scary bus.

I recommend them as opposed to other Chinatown buses, since they leave one off at Metro Center, which enables a traveler to gain access to the entire subway system. That way, you don't have to change lines from other points in the system, or walk to a station.

Check the megabus here: low cost inter city travel

Check the metro here: Metro - Homepage
