Possibly another hate motivated crime in the Bronx. A group of four or five black males assaulted a Hispanic teen. This was witnessed by his brother who came to defend him but was shot to death.

Definitely just a standard robbery..Allen you are definitely overreaching, or worse.
Considering that most crime is black on black in the city. They took a lot of effort to get their criminal crew to spot a lone Hispanic male, then attack him and murder his brother. And apparently neither of the brothers were affiliated with a gang or would otherwise have some weapon with them. Standard street robberies usually just include someone getting knocked out or grabbed while others take their stuff, then the robbers flee. This appears to be a deliberate hate based assault and murder with robbery only as part of the abuse, picking a defenseless "other". The main purpose was to harm, which they accomplished and then they left without taking anything else except someone's life.
I also object to the term "robbery gone bad", as if robberies are even "neutral" to begin with. A criminal is not going to think in that manner, they are scavengers and stealing, beating, murdering is all part of the same continuum of violent crime.

Hence, the criminals picked a specific area to target another ethnicity different from theirs. If this was in the subway, it might have been different because almost every race is present. However, going to a distinct hood away from yours is a premeditated act. They know exactly what kind of color they wanted to attack and not a random victim.

Hate based aggression means attacking those who are deemed to be the "other". They can have 99% of your genes and culture, but any difference is what causes them to be a target. Similar to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, where both Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews might be of the same Semitic race as the Arabs but people will see distinctions no matter what and will use it as an excuse to victimize.

Exactly...the victim could've been a dark-skinned Dominican for all we know. People should just post the crimes as they occur and stop trying to put the Fox News spins on it. Being that the Bronx is mostly Black and Hispanic, why would one be surprised about a Black-on-Spanish crime happening is beyond me. This could've easily have been a Puerto-Rican group of kids robbing an African-American and killing another African-American who tried to help. It does happen ya know.

Doesn't matter if it was 5 light skinned blacks killing a very dark skinned Dominican man. They do not share the same identity, which was the cause for the crime. And while crime usually doesn't care what color you happen to be, the overwhelming trend is that blacks tend to victimize other minorities more than vice versa.
