Right now, I have been paying $2.39 for a dozen large eggs at the supermarket and I can get a gallon of milk for $3.00 at some drug stores and gas station mini-marts.
If you live uptown, it's worth a trip to Costco on 116th or BJ's in the Bronx (Yankee Stadium). Two large dozen of eggs for under $3.00. They sell organic as well.
My BF & I get our eggs from Western Beef (yes, we've heard it's run by the mob but it's cheap!) and it's like $1.50 a dozen for the ones we get (generic, large grade). As for milk, I usually get the $2.39 half gallons from the Duane Reade by my apartment.
Well, that's much more reasonable, folks! Thanks for the information. I mainly subsist on milk, eggs, and shredded wheat, so I wanted to know how much they might set me back in NYC while I stay for a while.
...double blind study time? Could be a good excuse for getting some friends round for breakfast. I buy free range for the ethical issue but they taste like eggs to me.
