Why no country music station in NYC?
Can anyone explain this? I love country music, and this is the only city that I have been to that does not have a country music station.
I will be in NYC in July and want to listen to music that I enjoy.
Didn't NYC used to have a country music station in the past?

I have an ipod and I don't really like Pandora. I want to listen to it while I am driving. And I don't want to have to deal with controlling my Ipod and controlling the steering wheel at the same time.

I could always tell I was nearing home when the country music stations disappeared and were replaced with Spanish and hip-hop stations.
I knew very few people who listened to country music when I was growing up. Wrong place for it.

I think there was a country-ish station some time back in the 80s but the ratings sucked and they changed it over to various other formats over the years.
Country music just isn't popular here. People here like rock, hip-hop, R&B, jazz, pop, and Spanish music.
If you're here and you want to listen to country, either buy a ton of CDs to listen to in your car or get satellite radio.

New York country music sounds almost like an oxymoron.
There's something about accent (which I think is often forced) which sounds jarring to the New York ears. Or at least mine. Perhaps if they sang in New York accents it'd go over better...

Make a few CDs of your favorite country music and play that.
