Wow that article really hits the nail on the head.
My recommendation...UES/Yorkville. I have a spacey studio with no broker fee for $1500 a month
Pros: Space/Price
Cons: Distance from subway/Not trendy area (But I LOVE it)
There is ALWAYS pros and cons, you just need to evaluate your value preferences and weigh which cons are less important for you at any given price point.
You can come live in my apartment. For the low low price of $2400 you too can live here under a microscope and have the lady under you yell at you because your "foot is too heavy".
i think just because an area is hood doesnt mean there will be extremely low rents. For instance i know of a building in Pelham Bay that has studios in the 700s but if u go to hunts point u will rarely see a studio in the 700s. Market rate is still charged in the hood i just think the only ones thats renting those apts is the people on section 8 cuz who is gonna spend the same amount of money to live in the hood if u can get the same price in a better hood. Only exception would be section 8.
