W 34th street has H&M, Macy's, Old Navy etc. It's cheaper but the clothes are really nice. I shop there sometimes. And there's a like a 7 floor mall across from Macy's. There's a lot there.

Miss NY have you ever been in the areas I listed? Fifth Ave. between 50-57 has many stores that are affordable: H&M, Mexx, just to list a few. 34th street as mentioned also has affordable shopping. There is also a Daffy's around Park/Lexington and 57. And Broadway starting at 4th street also has affordable shopping. There are lots of small stores that are inexpensive. I don't know how affordable you want to go, might want to try the K-Mart in Astor Place or the Conways all over the city.
