what you guys fail to realize is city workers ARE WORKING for their salary. When they have to get up every morning, rain, snow, storm, sleet, heatwave to take the public to work, no one should talk about the pay they get. The public is not GIVING city workers anything. talk about welfare people who arent working and is getting help from OUR taxes. but dont tell me a man does not deserve is pay when he gets up every monring to take YOU to work or does his work in order to have reliable service.

If there is work available and a man chooses to work night and day year round, around the clock for his money, leave him alone. whether its a private sector or not, if he wants to work hard for his bread he should have the right to do so without the public dipping their mouth questioning why is he doing so much overtime.

last summer when the mta cut services and laid off many operators and workers, the same public who is upset about a man doing OT is the same public upset that they have to wait an hour for a bus etc,.

it seems as though you guys want city workers to be making 10 dollars an hour with no benefits. the public needs to start appreciate the reliable service they are getting instead of nit picking and complaining about the small issues.

Reliable service? What are you talking about?
Paying people 280k instead of, say, 80k, doesn't make service more reliable. Period.

Imagine just doing that for 5 years, you'd have a million in cash, invest that in real estate on the side while keeping your job, 8 figures in the bank in 10 years - THANKS MTA!

Also, since when is 50-60 hours a lot of working? That's a light week for most white collar workers and pretty much no white collar employees get paid any kind of overtime. Just bonuses, but you only see 50% of that. This guy is making almost $300K in salary!

what do you say to the unemployed who'd LOVE the opportunity to work a 'long' (lol) 55 hour workweek at HALF this salary, who can't feed her kids due to rising taxes and MTA fares that foster incentive to perform one's duties as looonnngg as possible to rake in as much Overtime and a higher annual pension payout?

Then retire with a pension near final salary, then watch said annual pension payouts rise through Cost of Living Adjustments and never FALL, like 401(k's) or stocks, or home values do..

Ahh livin the life, why work when you can just tax other people's sweat and live off that?

Moooree pleasse... hello NY MCTMT tax

Just remember The MTA is an agency of NEW YORK STATE, not New York City.

Those people are getting paid on EVERYONE in the state's dime.

Wow, I think I need to switch careers. That is absolutely ridiculous. I know attorneys with $200k in student loan debt that aren't making that much money and they are working 70 hours every week.

There is a word for it: COMMUNISM.

In a sentence, it's called theft, a crime - just obscene.

I laughed out loud at the whining that the poor baby has to "get up every day and get to work in the snow and rain, work long hours, etc.," so that they are now entitled to this massive, unacceptable salary. Just hilarious.

City AND state. My estimated taxes go to both.

Communism implies equal distribution of wealth, unions have nothing to do with it. They want wealth to be redistributed to them from other workers.
