Just wanted to elaborate a bit more on one point of my post...
Brooklyn was named the most paved-over place in the United States in a study to be published today in the Science Journal.
An analysis conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey shows Brooklyn has only 4,000 cubic meters of unpaved space per person.
This is not a competition that any community wants to win -- the title comes with serious impacts to water quality and environmental health.
With this fact in mind, any place else has greener pastures.

I was born in Brownsville--my grandmother owned a building on Herzl Street between Riverdale and Newport. The neighborhood has undergone some unbelievable changes since the early 1960s. It's better than it was a decade ago, but still a world away from what it was when I was a kid there.

Brownsville is the worst next to East NY. I would look at some other areas.....Some parts of Bed Stuy, Bushwick, anywhere but Brownsville. I feel funny in the day time over there and wouldnt be caught dead there at night.
