NYC-Boston is on a distinguished road
Cool Moving to Newyork...

Hi there,

I just moved to NYC from boston and am trying to find a place in Manhattan.
My priorities are:
proximity to the subway
safety
reasonable rent. (Something between 1200-1600 for a studio)

Can someone guide me. The only place where i can find apartments is Harlem and i have heard some strange stories about that area.

So, can anyone give me some info about some good areas in Manhattan to live into?

Thanks
Y

^for $1600/month you should be able to find a studio in the ues, uws, or midtown. stay below 96 st. just about everywhere in the ues, uws, or midtown has walkable train access. however, make sure you do the walking a couple of times after viewing the place. in the beginning, you might feel ok about it, but when you're in a rush in the morning, there is a big difference between living on 68th st. and 3rd ave. vs. living on 72st. and york.
