By 1968, Mott Haven and Hunts Point were already long gone. In fact, Hunts Point in 1971 had the highest murder rate ever recorded. The decay started in the the 1959-1961 period, when Heroin started to become popular.
Does anyone know of movies or internet sites that have video or moving pictures of the real New York of the 60's and early 70's. I'm looking for scenes of the outer boros not Manhattan. I'd like to see what they looked like back then. Any help would be appreciated.
