My name is Matteo and I'm in New York to collaborate with amuseum in Manhattan and to improve my language. So my thread is for all those who like talking and making new friends. we can meet in a starbucks (or something else) and talk aboout everything, knowing each other.
I just would like to have new friends, so if you are a girl or a boy it does not matter.
I don't know if my maerican is good and I hope I could explain my wishes well :-)

Answer to this thread if you like the idea...

Hi Matteo,
This is a good idea to post here - maybe someone will accept your offer. Also I would like to suggest that you try posting on craigslist for a converstaion or language exchange, or perhaps there is already someone who is looking for a language partner. Try this section of craigslist
new york activity partners classifieds "english" - craigslist (I already typed "English" into the search box but you could try a different search term.)

Also you could try meetup groups for ESL speakers. There are a couple listed for NYC, such as this one
The 'Friends of the United Nations' English Club (New York, NY) - Meetup and
NYLC Language Exchange (New York, NY) - Meetup

I don't think people usually meet much through this website, and although Craigslist website has a "platonic" section, I don't know if it would work for you. If you will be working for a museum, you will likely meet people via the museum. Some museums have a newsletter for employees, and maybe you could put a notice in there. Depending on where you're from - are you Italian? - maybe you could find a cultural group of New Yorkers interested in your country. Also, look at the site called Meetup. It is full of informal groups of people with specific interest - movies, books, sports, etc.
