Hi,
I saw a similar post on another forum and have to say some of the replies were hillarious!

What tips/information/wisdom can you pass on for visitors or people coming to live?

Learn how to read, for one thing. You'd be surprised how many people will stick their head into a subway car and cry out "IS THIS THE D TRAIN???"

In the US we drive on the right side on the road. Knowing that, sidewalks are like "roads" for walking. Please walk to the right.

totally can understand that. During our visit I was amazed at the stupidity of some people doing that, which lead to them being 'shoved'. I felt sorry for them but understand the frustration people who live it the city face.

This type of subway turnstile does not work like a revolving door. If someone is coming through one way (entering the system) and you are trying to get out, you have to wait til they are through before you start.
