Reverse commute from Queens to LI (Carle Place, Roslyn: neighborhoods, to live in, gardens) - City-Data Forum

I will be starting a job on Long Island in the fall and want to do a reverse commute by car from Queens. Any recommendations on what neighborhoods to live in? I am in my mid-20s if that is helpful.

How far out on LI? Are you looking for a more urban feel or do you want a more suburban area?

@gk90--it is near Roslyn. I am looking for something more urban if possible.

Have you looked at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens or Rego Park? Urban but not too far from Roslyn--with no traffic I've done it in 15-20 minutes.

I just spoke with someone who was commuting from Astoria to Carle Place (10 minutes from Roslyn) and she said that the commute was getting to her.
