I am planning to walk from the 182-183rd st train station to 3rd avenue 183rd street.
Is it safe? Or should i not bother at all?

IMO it's not safe. Why take unnecessary risks? It's the HOOD. And once you cross Webster it gets even more dangerous. Atleast St. Barnabas Hospital is close by.

People in this neighborhood are high on drugs, and increases the risk for you to become a victim of a violent attack.

Safer than the first location, which is also in South Bronx.

I wouldn't do it. Valentine and Thebout ave have some really shady characters, and there are projects in the vicinity. Lots of drug flowing in and out of those blocks.

Depends on whether your walk will be at 8 am or 1:30 am.

IF I was the op you should try moving further south in the Bronx instead of the 183rd tremont area, that whole strecth from third avenue to sedgwick is a no joke. PEople will think your an Chinese delivery person. If I was you try moving to melrose or concourse section of the Bronx it has new decent housing, and also redeveloped housing aswell and a little safer then 183rd. From there on you can take the 15 or 55 bus to st barnabas hospital!

IMO, Melrose is indeed starting to become one of the best areas in South Bronx.

Do you people seriously believe this person CAN NOT walk a few blocks without fearing for his life? Are you kidding me? You do realize teachers, who are bright as snow, female, walk these streets daily, morning and evening? You do realize people walk these streets all the time who are not from the neighborhood and manage to survive? People on this neighborhood are high on drugs? REALLY? What neighborhood doesn't have people who use drugs? It would have made news long ago if the streets were unwalkable....this is all fear mongering at its best.

My advice: Walk the streets and see for yourself that you will survive, as 99.9999999999999999999% of the people do. Don't listen to many of the posters on here as they simply believe everyone will be murdered just for walking on a street. What a joke.
