Refilled my Pay-Per-Ride card last night at a machine in GCT for $20. When I swiped, I noticed that the balance looked like it hadn't been credited. Of course it was a machine that wasn't able to print receipts.

I checked my bank account when I got home, and the $$ had been deducted. I went today to check the balance of the card, and sure enough...my refill wasn't credited. The booth clerk just handed me a claim form and told me to get the # off of the machine (done), and to call them (about to do). It looks like from the form that I am going to have to mail this card in to them.

Anyone had this happen to them? How long does it take to either...1. get my card back with the credit on there...2. get my money back?

Am I better off disputing the charge through my bank? It sucks that I will be basically out my $20 for however long it takes to process...that's my commuting budget every week, AND have to buy a new card to use in the meantime.

This happened to me a couple of times. Just fill out the form (no need to call) and mail it in with the card (keep copies of everything for yourself). I think it took about 3 weeks for me to get a new card in the mail.

it happened to me once, with monthly ticket. After the claim letter, I waited about a month to receive a check from them(not full amount, only partial)

That's not too too terrible (although mildly annoying). I'm glad I used my card instead of cash. I'll mail it out today.

Honestly, go through your bank. They'll remove the charge immediately and then they're the ones who will duke it out with the MTA.
