Is it a six-month security deposit, or are you paying six months in advance?
On one hand, I've never heard of it. On the other hand, it's exactly what people suggest that you offer a landlord who is unwilling to take you if he has doubts about your worthiness.
When I got my first apartment after I moved to the city, I didn't meet the income requirements. They (large mgmt company) offered me the apartment if I would either do a 6 mo security deposit or pay a year up front. Since I had sold my house to move here & cashed out with a profit, I opted for paying the year up front.
thanks for sharing wisnowbird but i dont like the sound of a deposit that big. at the end of it all, it sounds like the management can allege the poster somehow violated xyz and is not entitled to the return of his/her deposit. and that's a chunk of change.
idk
