No,it's not more expensive than other areas of Manhattan.It is more expensive than some and less expensive than others.

Yes,I agree.With the exception of a few special blocks most of Chelsea is one of the most characterless sections of Manhattan.A lot of it is actually kind of ugly.

I live in Chelsea. I personally like where I live but I wouldn't even consider living above 23rd street. It's just too icky. I live in the "gayest" area and its fine with me since I'm a girl. Some good places to eat tho.

My best friend lived there before the all the "boyz" really came in, 8th and 15th,,,,rough and scary, no kidding......but fun never the less....

boy has it changed....

Here are a few photos. I agree with the assessment that it is rather characterless, with a hodgepodge of bland high rise buildings. However, it is home to a young professional community, has a pretty good assortment of restaurants and eateries, and is centrally located.
