One of the most damning quotes I have ever seen on C-D. Shots fired. Rep points coming your way.

Non-blacks are definitely living there now. "Trendy" stores and restaurants are opening and there is a lot of construction and renovation going on. Reminds me of how Harlem, between Central Park & 125th / Lenox to Morningside Park was a few years ago. Some of the blocks have beautiful brownstone homes and they are quiet. I'm not a realtor pushing the area but I work there, and I am definitely seeing change. That's not to say it will ever flip white but it just like Harlem, I think certain sections of Bed Stuy will become more appealing to a diverse group of people both racially and economically.

There a story today in the NY Times about these 4 guys (2 black, 2 white) who met at Brooklyn College and formed a band. They then moved into Bed-Stuy and moved in all their electronic/music equipment. Then they were robbed at gunpoint in their home and lost thousands and thousands of dollars in equipment.

I don't care how "gentrified" Bed-Stuy might be becoming, there's no way in hell I would consider living there right now.

Like most neighborhoods, Bed Stuy has its nicer and worse sections. Does the article say where in Bed Stuy this happened (just curious).

Are just regular decent neighborhoods with nice brownstones and terrible parking. Their attraction is based entirely on the fact that they aren't like the rest of Brooklyn. Ultimately this is why those areas are so expensive to live in. It's amazing how they've concocted that scam because anywhere in blue collar America, the areas that consist of decent schools, stores and low crime are just normal unconscionable living conditions. Only here, people consider it worth paying extra for. Wow.
I agree and disagree with your point, to me replace Brooklyn Heights with Park Slope and all those neighbrohoods are in essence regular, safe middle class neighborhoods (atleast they are meant to be), which are overpriced. Brooklyn Heights however, is and always has been an upper class enclave, as well as Cobble Hill. But the rest of the neighborhoods are indeed overpriced. But still some of the best neighborhoods in the city.

Another thing you brought up is the blue collar thing, that is an interesting point because that very thing that made places like this in Brooklyn appealing is disappearing.

It's good that this never happens in other parts of NYC either.

Oh, wait.

I seriously doubt it. I know a few route drivers (food) and they always refer to bed stuy and other areas in brooklyn as the worst. However, if you are black and into the whole thug thing you should fit right in.

Yeah, I'm sure this happens in Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, and Bay Ridge. Give me a break.
