I am a Boston-based blues singer. I gig regularly here. I've been contemplating the idea of moving to NYC, but I'm not sure I should. Basically, if I moved, I would be starting completely from scratch. I wonder if anyone has any insight into the music scene. Is it hard to break in even if you have been playing in another city regularly? I would probably have a day job, ideally at one of the universities so I can pay rent, etc, if things are slow going musically and be able to take some classes for should some say I should start by just visiting & seeing if I can get gigs & if there's demand, then move. Some say, "you could just move there & if you don't like it, move back." I see both points. Would love some insight from others.
