Thanks in advance...

It seems as if this has been happening alot more recently because of the high-profile cases like the murder of Leiby Kletzky among others... Another one was posted today that had to do with possible racial motives behind the crime... This on top of the other crimes that we post on other neighborhood threads to either confirm or deny improvements...

i.e. (Northrose residences- East 161st street & third avenue thread)...

All these cases can and should be discussed within the NYc crime thread where we can debate whether or not these are disturbing new patterns taking place circa 2011 or if these are just random incidences that the media if simply publicizing more often than before because of the lack of news and shrinking crime rate...

The problem is that just about any news in the Crime thread gets shot down as another inconsequential, "what's the big deal, crime always happens" gripe. Then the discussion de-evolves into an argument of how crime is at all time lows.
At least some dedicated crime threads to big stories should be allowed.

It only happens when people post random articles that just show that crime still happens in this city... If people were to post the article about the 8 murders in a weekend that would spark up some legitimate debate but i'll be the first to agree with some of the posters on the crime thread that if you post drug dealer gets killed in hood... thats not really news that needs to be debated or discussed... look at how many posts our crime thread has as opposed to other cities... washington D.C. and P.G. combined have less than 100 we have over 1,000 posts...

If we could limit the amount of unnecessary articles posted on the crime thread while discussing these high profile cases, then there wouldn't be a need to put down or dismiss the articles cause then there is legitimate reason and concern to discuss them...

I think the 2011 official crime thread should be a sticky.

Not really, just noticing a pattern that doesn't really exist in other cities threads as much as on here... Just a suggestion that would eliminate alot of little threads that flame out after a week or so considering the high volume of threads NYC has...
