I don't think anyone hates transplants, or really cares for the matter. People come and go in every city, life's short. Thanks for the funny threads lol.

Nope, "We" don't. Speak for yourself pal.

Although I am not there for another year. NYC forum IS my favorite forum to visit. I find the members of this forum are the most welcoming of any of the several forums that I frequent and they are very helpful. They "represent"very well. Kudos to them.

As I've warned you before, you need to slow down before you get Ba...oh never mind

Hahaha I never had sex with the natives as a transplant there. I was too worried I'd catch herpes or worse. And it was pretty obvious they all thought I was dumb because I wasn't from there. Um... I can spell better than you and just because I'm Midwestern doesn't mean I just got off the short bus! Lol! But maybe I was the exception. My one roommate from Minnesota basically became a full-fledged prostitute within a month of living there. I had the great pleasure of having my Trinitario-connected landlord and a 250 pound linebacker-type guy drag her coked up ass out of our apartment one night at 2 A.M. She wanted to get busy doing some freaky interracial sh*t with this whacky Jamaican dude and I wasn't having that. I guess I can't blame the guys for wanting some fresh & normal pooh-tang. It's a rare commodity there fo' sure.

I don't "hate" transplants but i don't enjoy things like eyesore condos going up, food prices suddenly changing and other things that have come become associated with it....The people here working hard just trying to make a living are fine.....

Don't blame the transplants for the "eyesores". Blame native New Yorkers searching for multi-unit homes with driveways in dense areas. You think the transplants moved here to drive? It's the "natives" ruining this city, the newcomers wanna spruce the place up, improve it.

The transplants want bike lanes, nicely designed condos that fit the urban fabric, improved transit and mixed zoning. Old New Yorkers are not as intelligent (just do a education comparison), don't care about the urbanism that makes this city unique and account for most NIMBYS. New, New Yorkers are often educated, professional, millennials and more open minded. Old New Yorkers range in age and are either really ghetto and very conservative (old school) and don't tolerate change.

The sad truth.

Source? Born and raised New Yorker who had traveled all over the country and overseas.

I wonder what people think about new yorkers that move to other parts of the country and worry about the change of culture and increase in taxes etc like what us nyers experience with transplants.

New York City is ever evolving and the growth in moderate and higher income earners is good for the city. I hate how people think all the newcomers are W.A.S.P., that is so not true. The newcomers are diverse racially, ethnically and religiously. Some are even children of people that left when the city was in decline. The best thing is most of them are millennials, meaning they are much less likely to be racist or conservative; more liberal, educated, appreciate diversity, urbanity (why they came in many cases) and in the know.

In other cities it depends on where you go. Some hate us because they get our displaced riff-raff. Others love us because they get some very unique, charismatic people. It's all point of view.

The newcomers are great for the city. Gentrification is great for the city. I will admit the prices for many condos are ridiculous but blame developers and NIMBYS.

Why in God's name are you building townhouses with driveways near public transit. There should be nothing lower then 6 stories within walking distance of subway stations. Why are people against finger towers (highrises) in areas like Washington Heights (THEY ARE ALREADY THERE!!!). A LACK OF RESIDENTIAL UNITS IS WHY EVERYTHING COST SO MUCH! BUILD TALLER FOR MORE UNITS! We need more developments like Via Verde, Northrose (Formally Boricua Village), Tyron Center, W 190th Street Highrises, any new luxury condo in Williamsburg, NOT FEDDERS CRAP.

YOU CAN ONLY BLAME NEW YORKERS FOR NEW YORK'S PROBLEMS!!!

lmao pleaseeeee

I don't hate transplants. I've lived all over and understand people move around, want to experience new places, etc. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't like tho how transplants have pretty much taken over the neighborhood I grew up in and are trying to turn it into some yuppified paradise. That sucks.

One annoying thing is when transplants move here and after a few months are declaring themselves "New Yorker's".

Um, no. I lived down South, but I never said I was a "Southerner". It's like...sometimes they can be a little too eager to fit in but they will still come off as wannabees.
