Hi folks,
I just got an offer for a job in NYC (33rd/Lex) for $80,000 (and I also freelance to make about $10k more each year). My husband and 1 1/2 year old baby are planning to move to NYC. We lived in the city for 13 years, so we are familiar with all the issues of getting an apartment.

We are looking for a 2 bedroom apartment for $2k or less, and considering Forest Hills, Sunnyside, possibly Boerum Hill and other parts of Brooklyn, and maybe the far east of the Upper East Side.

Besides looking on Craigslist, what sites do you recommend? Any brokers that you think are best? We are also going to call friends as well as former landlords and management companies for places we rented in the past. Any other places we should look?

Also, before I get flamed for being irresponsible by bringing my family to NYC on such a low income-- I know it's low and am hoping my hubby can land at least a part-time job to help make ends meet. Thanks!
