Lots of good advice. I thought I had a problem w/ fleas last spring, so did a lot of research. Lavander is something that bugs don't like. Neem oil is something that repels bugs. Also, at my daughters in Calif., I purchased "chinese chaulk" for a small dollar store. You draw a line w/ this at the doorways. I am not sure of toxicity you'll have to research if you try it. It worked great. I used it on sidewalk at their front door. Evidently bugs won't cross it.
Go to the supermarket. Pick up a bottle of Windex, preferably with a spray nozzle (even if your windows are spotless). Spray the next roach you see. Watch what happens. Windex is all you need to take care of roaches, once and for all--but they never tell you that in their commercials.
20 drops of peppermint oil, 10 drops of cypress oil in 8 oz water and a tsp salt mixed together is a good deterrent. they HATE the stuff. spray it in streams and spray
What works well are those creamy baits that used to be available only to exterminators. Most insecticide companies make them now for he public. It comes in large tubes, like toothpase and is odorless because it is a bait anot an aerosol killer.
Schmootz it around in hidden nooks and crannies and forget about it.
