Default Christmas in NYC with our 3 young girls...Suggestions please?

My husband and I are going to be arriving on Friday Dec. 23rd to NYC with our 3 youngest. They are 9,8,and 8. We will be driving there as we have other stops after NYC.

We still have not found a place to stay but we are looking in the Time square area/Midtown East or West.

We are hoping to see Santa at Macy's, Rockefeller Tree and Ice skating, and we would like to take the girls to see a show. We can't decide if we want to see the Rockettes, or a Broadway show?

Also curious on some places to eat.

I know with it being the winter, and not knowing how the weather could be, should we skip the Statue of Liberty -the kids really want to see it?

Thank you in advance

Christmas time in NYC is really nice but it's also crowded. You can barely walk through Times Square lol. Have fun =)

NYC is beautiful during Christmastime. One of my favorite things is walking around during this time. If you walk up 5th Avenue you can look into all the stores window fronts and see their decorations. Saks has beautiful lights, and on 57th street there is a gorgeous star hanging up in the sky above the intersection.

In Columbus Circle, the Time Warner building always has very pretty stars that change color hanging up for Christmas:

Macy's, while extremely crowded with tourists, is definitely worthwhile for the kids.

In addition to Rockefeller, there is also ice skating at Bryant Park.

The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City is probably a good show idea considering the season and the age of the kids.

I would skip the Statue of Liberty this trip. There is so much else to see and with the weather, it's not really the best time to go see it. In fact, I think the ferry to the island only runs through September if I remember correctly.

I went to Times Square and Rockerfeller Center 2 years ago during Christmas Time. Here are some pictures that I took.

Some are closed but plenty are open, even with some special Christmas day menus.

Yeah since you are visiting in the Winter it's best to skip the Statue of Liberty especially since it would be extremely cold since it's in the middle of New York Harbor, and it would be too cold to run outside from the Staten Island Ferry and snap pictures of it.

If you want to pick one show, I would have to go with the Rockettes as it's a Christmas tradition, and engaging for children. Seeing that show in Radio City will be much better than a touring company that you can find in many other cities during the season.

Regarding the Statue of Liberty, so long as you wear appropriate clothing, it should not be too much of a problem to go there. If the children want to see it, I would be inclined to recommend taking them, just plan for an additional layer as it can be quite chilly in the harbor.

Nah, they could do that.

Here's the Statue/Ellis Island website
