Does Manhattan have any malls or buildings that you'd consider mini malls? I remember going into one mall. See attached picture. But I was wondering about some other places like that. Obviously the malls where I live are a lot different because they take up so much land mass.

If you want to venture to Queens, there are some bigger malls.

thank you this is actually what I'm looking for.

I'll be there next month and doing a lot of site seeing. But in case it rains or I need a break from the sun it would be nice to hit up a mall for an hour or so.

manhattan, like most dense urban areas, doesn't have a very successful history with malls since traditionally they depend on big parking lots. with lots of mass transit instead most shopping is in individual stores. aside from manhattan mall--which been redeveloped with the demise of gimbel's and the addition of jc penney--the only others i know of are high end malls, the time warner center at columbus circle and a a smaller one in trump tower on 56th and 5th.

They also have the former Limelight turned mini-mall on 20th and 6th...I guess that counts too.

Nuts,
Yesterday I toured Roosevelt Island, rode the Tram the first time, did an Indian buffet lunch in Jackson Heights and visited a friend in Rego Park. I forgot ALL about the Queens Center.
I guess that gives me another shot at Indian Taj or the Jackson Diner.

I know most Malls are pretty samey but it's a nice way to beat the afternoon heat and maybe even catch a movie.

For someone looking for an easy trip to a big Mall, consider the NEWPORT CENTER. (Newport stop on PATH, first stop in NJ.<Jersey City>)

That's one reason I posted this. In August I know it can get really hot. So when I'm touring the city it might be nice to chill in a mall for an hour to get out of the eat.
