Hi,
We are moving from Boston to (probably) Forest Hills, Queens. Is there any way to find an apartment without a broker? It seems like most of Craigslist is brokers. Do the brokers have access to ALL those many apartment buildings? We want to make sure we have enough options and make the right decision. Can you contact the buildings directly?

Thanks!

Same question.
We are moving to FH in a few months and are looking at trulia, Craigslist, other online sources but it seems the options maybe better via broker listings.

We want to live near the 71st station south of queens blv between 71and Yellowstone since it is zone for PS 144 which our kids will attend.

Anyone has any suggestions on how we should go about finding good rental apts in this specific zone?

Only small landlords with very small buildings handle heir own listings.

Most buildings in FH range from large to very large, and large complexes (which are a collection of VERY large buildings).

All are managed by Mangement Companies, and virtually all utilize Brokers.

The better apartments, and the best priced apartments will almost always be listed through a broker.

In many cases, even if you could contact the management office, most would refer you to their Broker.

Exactly. Any particular reason wanting to live in that area? Is it a matter of work or amount of rent.

Thanks. Do you have experience working with them?
I searched and haven't seen anything from members here about them. Most are questions like this but no answer.

As already mentioned brokers are you best option. The only other way is to walk around Forest Hills and inquire directly with the bldg. supers (managers who live in the buildings) if there are any vacant apts. that suit your needs in the various buildings in the area.

Years ago I walked into their office and found their brokers quite knowledgeable. At that time I went for a listing in Craigslist but had no issues with Kraham.
