Ill tell you what its like even though i am not there often. Like most neighborhoods in the Bronx, New York, Soundview is crazy with crime. Ive only been there a couple of times, but ill tell you that it is extremly bad. I would say Soundview was the 2nd worse neighborhood in N.Y, right behind Hunts Point which is very poor and ravaged with prostitutes and tons of drugs, just like most other neighborhoods in The South Bronx. If every neighborhood in N.Y was as crime filled as these two neighborhoods, N.Y would be the "most dangerous city" in the United States.

Soundview is not the worst neighborhood in NYC. Not even close. The area of western Soundview, by Hunts Point, is terrible. But not any worst than Hunts Point, Mott Haven, Morrisania etc........... However, the eastern part of Soundview is really nice. So it can never get the title "worst neighborhood" from me.

Eastern part, are you referring to Castle Hill?
I asked this question before and from the response I got it sounds like it depends on who you ask - what exactly is Soundview, in terms of its boundries? I mean, I've heard of Harding Park, which some people consider part of Soundview, but I know nothing about this area. Is thisone of the nicer parts you mentioned? Someone else mentioned Clason Point, is this also part of Soundview?
Based on what I was told, Soundview was described as a bad area. I mean, I don't live in the Bronx but I've heard of the Soundview houses and I know they're infamous. A few years ago I was interning at a news station, we sent one of our reporters to the Bronx during the trial of the police officers who shot Amadou Diallo. I mean, this goes back a few years but I remember our reporter would interview locals down there, and they never bothered or harassed her. She was somewhere in Soundview (Wheeler Avenue, I believe?) Anyway, I've heard the public housing here is really violent, is this true?

Again i live in soundview. The differance between west and east soundview is like night and day. The western half (where dialo lived) is rough. Like all places you have the good and you have the bad. Soundview as an neighborhood is not all bad just certain parts. I live east of the highway and its completely differant

I am more a West Bronx, person, but during the summer I was walking from near Castle Hill Ave. to Southern Blvd. and walk on Watson Avenue most of the way. Rosedale Avenue was kind of interesting in a way, appealing to me for some reason.

Yeah, I'd agree. Soundview (the western section, at least) is what I'd call a neighborhood full of "hot" blocks: pretty densely populated, lots of people hanging out all over, drugs, and crime.
